Adele’s Story

Delegate Adele McClure is a lifelong Virginian, public servant, Mom, and daughter of an early childhood educator and a Filipino immigrant Army veteran.

She has proudly represented the 2nd House District in the Virginia House of Delegates. Throughout her tenure, Delegate McClure has passed more than 30 bills and secured over $100 million in the state budget to lower housing and energy costs, expand access to affordable childcare, and deliver strong consumer, renter, and worker protections across the Commonwealth. Adele has been named one of the most effective legislators in the General Assembly, maintaining one of the highest bill passage rates each legislative session.

Delegate McClure serves on three critical House committees: Public Safety, General Laws, and Transportation. At the start of her second term, Delegate McClure was named the Vice Chair of the House Public Safety committee, in addition to serving as the chair of two subcommittees of the House General Laws committee: Procurement/Open Government, and special Subcommittee #5. Serving as the chairwoman for these committees reaffirms Delegate McClure’s position as a nationally recognized leader and a driving force behind thoughtful, impactful policymaking that delivers real results.

In 2025, Delegate McClure was awarded the prestigious EMILYs LIST 2025 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award for her outstanding leadership and life-long advocacy for our most vulnerable communities. Adele is the first and only EMILYs List awardee from Virginia. In 2026, Delegate McClure was named one of The Hill’s Top 50 Women Shaping Policy in America for her influential and demonstrated leadership in advancing impactful change on behalf of her constituency.

Previously, Delegate McClure served as the Executive Director of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus (VLBC), where she led the development of the caucus’s annual legislative agenda across both chambers of the Virginia General Assembly while managing a 22-member caucus. Adele’s leadership and work were nationally recognized when she was named to the  2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 List for Law & Policy and received the National Black Legislative Staff Leadership Council Top 22 of 2022 award. She is a proud graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she served as Student Body President and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

This campaign starts with YOU.

My mission has always been to break down barriers, expand access, and improve lives—starting with lowering costs for working families. Right now, people are being squeezed by housing, childcare, healthcare, groceries, and gas—and it’s only getting worse.

That’s why I’m launching the “YOU Write the Agenda” Tour—to hear directly from you and build a People First Agenda shaped by the real challenges families are facing every day.

Come back soon to learn more—and to be part of writing what comes next.
